La más reciente entrega del Universo Marvel, "Eternals", dirigida por Chloé Zhao, se presenta como un ambicioso intento de fusionar la grandeza épica con una narrativa de superhéroes. Sin embargo, el resultado se siente como un mastodonte de efectos especiales que, a pesar de su impresionante producción, se ahoga en su propia pomposidad. Con una duración que supera las dos horas y media, la película se convierte en una experiencia interminable, dejando al espectador atrapado en una maraña de flashbacks y explicaciones confusas que dificultan la conexión emocional con los personajes.
A pesar de contar con un elenco talentoso y una cinematografía deslumbrante, los personajes se sienten meramente esbozados, funcionando más como símbolos de inclusión que como individuos con profundidad. La falta de cohesión en la narrativa, sumada a una dirección que parece perderse en su ambición, convierte a "Eternals" en una oportunidad perdida para redefinir el género.
